Choosing a supplier:
Questions to consider about a prospective
supplier:
Are they experienced in the industry and in the products they are
offering. or were they selling hot tubs last week?
Do they offer a wide range of models, or are they tied to just one
or two manufacturers?
If they are a manufacturer, do they actually make the components
or just assemble cheap softeners from cheap imported generic parts?
Are they likely to be able to support the product in the future,
or are they just looking for a quick sale today?
Do they specialise in water systems, or is it just a side line to
another business?
Do they have a verifiable history, and can you talk to other customers?
Are they members of a recognised trade association?
Do they have integrity or is it "buy
ours 'cos everyone elses is rubbish"?
In short, are they the sort of company with whom you feel comfortable
doing business?
We're constantly being asked our opinion
about the relative benefits of the various water softeners on the
market, and for our recommendations.
From a business point of view, we'd love to be able to say, " The
only softener we recommend is an XYZ Model 123 which is superior
in every possible way to any other machine ever made. Would you
like us to deliver one this afternoon, or would tomorrow morning
be OK?"
In real life things are rarely so simple. We are unique in offering
over 40 domestic water softeners from about 14 of the worlds leading
manufacturers. Our belief is that there are really no good or bad
machines, but only ones which are either more, or less suitable
for any particular requirement. Manufacturers emphasise the unique
features and benefits of their particular models, but these need
to be evaluated in response to your needs. For example, a softener
which is superbly economical on water usage may not be so important
to someone with an un-metered supply. The major benefit of a non-electric
softener is to someone for whom getting an electricity supply to
their softener would be a complex and costly problem. A unit which
fits neatly in the smallest cupboard is useless if it provides an
inadequate capacity for the household. I'm sure you get the idea.
There are three possible approaches to choosing a new Water Softener.

- Listen to pushy salesmen who will sometimes
know less about the systems they are selling than you do.
- Spend hours gathering brochures and
specification sheets on all the units you can find locally, then
sit down and try to compare them solely on the selective information
the manufacturers choose to give you.
