There are a number of specialist filters that remove more than just chlorine. If you are concerned about lead in your water supply there are filters that will remove heavy metals from your water supply. In this section you will also find filter systems to combat bacteria or cysts in your water.
If you need to remove sediment you will probably want to use a spun or woven sediment filter, these come in a number of sizes and can be chained together to gradually filter out finer and finer particles. We would reccomend you contact us to discuss your reqirments as the correct set up for you can depend on many things like fitting size how often you want to chenge your filters, your desired flow rate and the budget you have.
If you want the purest water possible we would reccomend a reverse osmosis system or RO filter, these systems have multiple stages, generally 3 but more can be added in. A Reverse Osmosis system incorporates a special membrane that removes more contaminates from your water than most filters can, and just to be safe they include a pre and post filter as well. Forcing purified water through the membrane is a slow process, because of this RO systems also come with a tank to store purified water.
These systems are not connected to a water supply and can be moved around as needed. These gravity fed systems are filled with water and rely on gravity to move the water through the filters. Using Doulton's ceramic filters, with their excellent bacteria killing properties, they can be found in many places where the quality of water can't be guaranteed. A favourite among aid workers.
These systems place a filter directly in a water supply, they are generally used in water coolers or fridges that dispense water and ice but can be fitted in any water line and offer great value for money.
Removing bad taste and odour is the most common reason for installing a filter system. Mains water is treated with chlorine to help prevent the growth of algae and other nasties but this can leave a taste or smell in your water. The easiest way to treat this is with a carbon filter, these come in a range of shapes and sizes from all number of manufactuers. Carbon filters can also contain additional medias to remove more than just taste and odour, but the carbon part will solve your taste and odour problem.
